When it comes to making headlines, winning awards, and topping the auto sales list, the Chevy Silverado is always at the forefront. This Chevrolet pickup was first introduced in 1930 originally as a designation of the higher-level trim of Chevrolet pickup trucks from 1975 to 1999. The initial release of the Chevrolet Silverado to the market coincided with the Sierra. These two pick-ups from General Motors (GM) have been almost the same throughout the years. Today, however, the Chevrolet Silverado is considered as the lower version since the Sierra is already part of the luxury division. In 1999, the Silverado underwent its first redesign which included the addition of features like grilles and interior trim, differentiating it from the Sierra. In 2003, the high-performance SS version of the Chevrolet Silverado was released. It was equipped with a 6.0-liter Vortec High-Output V8 that could generate 345 at 5200 rpm and 380 ft. lbs. of torque at 4000 rpm. In 2005, a hybrid version of the Chevrolet Silverado was introduced by GM, making it the first ever GM hybrid vehicle. The year 2006 saw the Chevrolet Silverado as the second largest volume vehicle in the US. In the first half of 2007, there were about 310,896 units of Silverado sold in the US.
Using the Chevy Silverado in off-road driving can be a real adventure. Bringing along some friends can make the trip more exciting. However, dirt, liquid spills, and other damaging particles may inevitably threaten the vehicle interior as the fun starts.
